Shopping For: Christmas Jumpers and Bobble Hats

How cute is ASOS’ Pug print Christmas jumper? I’m not usually a fan of novelty festive knits, but it’s impossible to resist a pug dressed up in antlers and a sequin bow tie. I’d wear the sweater with a pair of leather leggings, a simple shirt that falls below the bottom (because leggings are not trousers), comfy sneakers and a cosy bobble hat.
This week I also have my eye on the NARS Voulez-Vous Coucher Avec Moi, Ce Soir palette, which is exclusive toSelfridges. The colours are perfect for winter and would work for day and night. What items are on your wishlists this week? Let me know…

Shopping For: Updated Style Staples

There are certain fashion items that will forever be considered classics. The little black dress, for example, or a pair of figure-hugging skinny jeans. No wardrobe is complete without a selection of timeless designs that work for any occasion, season or location. But versatility needn’t be plain and boring. The above style staples all feature distinctive design details that set them apart from their simplistic equivalents.
Take the scallop edging on Topshop’s lightweight summer jacket, for instance. It gives the item a strong fashion focus, but could still be worn for years to come. The same can be said for Russell & Bromley’s dress flats (they feature just the right amount of bling) and Preen’s figure-hugging LBD. Invest in these items and you’ll be set for almost any event!

Introducing Joanna Pybus and Her Kooky ‘Furry Face’ Clutch Bags

Joanna Pybus
I love a statement accessory and am constantly on the look-out for quirky and unique designs. So you can imagine my excitement when I discovered Joanna Pybus‘ furry face clutch bags on BENGT. The young London-based designer has savvily added affordable accessories to her namesake label (now in its second season), which will no doubt boost her profile. Joanna’s ready-to-wear designs are bold and print-heavy, so the full head-to-toe look may not work for everyone, but her playful clutch bags and totes are an failsafe way to buy into the collection. Team them with low-key outfits – a little black dress or indigo jeans and a white T-shirt – for maximum impact. Sure, they’re totally bonkers, but why should fashion be so serious?

My personal favourite is the multi-coloured clutch, and I’m hoping a Cookie Monster-blue design will be introduced for A/W 2013. Wouldn’t that be amazing? Let me know if you like the look of Joanna Pybus’ designs too…

5 of the best pink sunglasses for summer 2013

Pink Sunglasses Spring 2013
There was a time, not so long ago, when I couldn’t stop buying sunglasses. I had a serious addiction. Eventually I ran out of storage space and enforced a strict shopping ban. But I think I may need to allow myself one sneaky purchase, this season, as the Spring/Summer 2013 collections are filled with beautiful pink sunglasses. The style sounds slightly odd at first (why take a risk with pink shades when you can play it safe with classic tortoiseshell and black?), but there are so many cool options out there, so you’re sure to find a design thats suits your look. Here are five of the best…
Designer junkies should head straight towards Prada’s ’50s-inspired frames. The retro feel is perfect for summer and will add a feminine edge to casual, urban looks. If you’re on a budget try the cat eye sunglasses from ASOS instead, as they hint to the more expensive Prada pair.
Those of you who love to make a fashion statement should give Quay Eyewear’s bubblegum pink sunnies a try, but if you’re still not 100% sold on the trend Elizabeth and James offers a great compromise. Their subtle rose pink sunglasses are almost a neutral, and the shape is fairly timeless. If you’re looking for a long-term investment these frames are the best bet!

Sienna Miller is a Burberry Prorsum Punk Princess at the Met Gala

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last 24 hours, you’ll know that the 2013 Met Gala took place in New York, last night, and that the theme this year was Punk: Chaos to Couture. Guests at the annual red carpet event rarely stick to the dress code, so I was excited to see how they approached the slightly daunting punk theme. I knew that whoever ended up wearing Burberry Prorsum would be safe, however, as Christopher Bailey works well with stud detailing. And Burberry’s guests – Sienna Miller and Cara Delevinge – did indeed look gorgeous on the red carpet.

Sienna Miller Met Gala Burberry
Sienna Miller chose an open-back crêpe dress and a studded biker jacket for the occasion. She accessorised her look with silver hoop earrings and a spike-y headband, which she used to fasten her hair to the side, so it looked like she had an undercut. It’s one of my favourite hairstyles from the night, and you can recreate the look at home with this crystal and spike tiara from ASOS (£12). Follow Sienna’s lead and wear it with undone hair and a slick of kohl eyeliner.
And, rumour has it Sienna Miller and her fiancé, Tom Sturridge, will appear in the Fall 2013 Burberry ad campaign. So you may be seeing the 31-year-old actress in Burberry more often. After this red carpet appearance I hope the whispers are true!
Do you like Sienna Miller’s punk-y Met Gala look? Who did crown the best dressed, last night? Share your thoughts in the comments section. I love a good red carpet gossip session!

Winona Ryder Goes Punk-Goth For Her Interview Magazine Cover

It’s a shame Winona Ryder didn’t attend the Met Gala, last night, because I think she would have gone to town with the punk theme. The 41-year-old actress covers the May 2013 issue of Interview magazine, and the Craig McDean shoot is a nice mix of punk and goth. It takes a lot of skill to make a Giorgio Armani dress look dark and edgy, but Winona does just that in her hauntingly beautiful cover portrait. How will anyone be able to resist this issue once it hits newsstands?
Winona Ryder Interview Magazine
Anna Wintour rarely gets it wrong, but she definitely missed a trick when Winona Ryder was left off the Met Gala guest list. Rooney Mara may have brought the punk-goth mix to the red carpet in Givenchy couture, but Winona still does that look better than anybody. See her accompanying Interview magazine editorial HERE.

The River Island Fall 2013 Collection is a Serious Trend Extravaganza

River Island AW13 1

River Island presented their Autumn/Winter 2013 collection to press, last week, and I was completely blown away by the selection of eye-catching designs on offer. The fall line-up is split into seven key trends: Mash Up, Bauhaus, Modernist, Supernova, Workhouse, Mono and Teen Spirit.
As always, there are plenty of runway-inspired looks to buy into (Supernova is very Balmain), and the mix of print, colour and texture will keep fashion daredevils happy. The collection also features some great work-wear options, which came as a surprise to me. Here I’ve pulled together a handful of my favourite looks so you can start compiling your wishlist:

I’ll be investing in the leopard print knit [above], the fabulous pointed-toe heels and the oversized orange coat [pictured after the jump]. The ‘Teen Spirit’ and ‘Supernova’ trends photograph brilliantly, so I’m sure we’ll see plenty of the designs in editorials, come September, but I’ll definitely wear bolder designs with classic wardrobe staples.
